New Anime from the creators of Agent Aika

Information supplied by Misao.

There's a new anime out there!!! Yay! It's named Najika Dengeki Sakusen.

"Najika Dengeki Sakusen is the latest anime project from Studio Fantasia who brought fans Agent Aika several years ago (and perhaps more panty shots than any Japanese anime production before hand). Headed by Studio Live alumni, Director Nishijima Katsuhiko (Aika, Project A-Ko Movie - Studio Deen) and character designer Yamauchi Noriyasu (Vampire Hunter D OVA, Aika), the stage is Earth at the begining of the 21st century, 17 % of the dry land has been submerged and the world economy is threatened. Najika works for a fragerence company as a cover and is indeed a top spy agent. Mecha include an Italian made '54 1300cc aluminum block Fiat Spider and Soviet Hind D Mi 35 m attack / transport helicopter. "

New Gatekeepers: Gatekeepers 21

Information supplied by ^kenji^.

Apparently, there's going to be a sequel to Gatekeepers, named Gatekeepers 21.

"The official name. Gatekeepers 21. This time we jump from 1969 to 2001. Called Gatekeepers 21 because it's set in the 21st century. That being the case, the girl in picture is either Shun's daughter or more likely his granddaughter and not his sister, Saemi. She calls herself Ayane Isuzu using her mother's maiden name rather than Ukiya because, like Shun, she has issues with her father. A bounty hunter for the Aegis Network, Ayane employs electrical techniques and presumably has a Gate Power based around that.

It hasn't be confirmed whether the older girl is indeed an older Yukino but she is said to be a mysterious, beautiful girl. A description often used for Yukino. She appears at Tategami High giving rise to rumors of a school ghost. Who else do we know that likes to pop in and out in a ghost-like fashion? And considering Yukino's already long life span.... This girl also appears to be waiting for someone.

Still, nothing is definite yet as they are still in the being stages of planning. This information is subject to change as plans are made and altered in the future."

Vandread: On and Off

Information supplied by Misao.

Ah..... as stated ages ago.... Vandread was on the rumours to be licensed. However, that hasn't happened yet. Therefore it's still available on our list.

" Also, I was able to find out that Vandread has NOT been officially picked up yet by a U.S Company. She said that they are currently in negotiations for Vandread, but that when anything was final, that the information would be posted online. ( Gonzo and U.S Companies websites ). "

Gatekeeper's Licensing Rumours

Information supplied by Misao.

Just thought fans of Gatekeepers might like to know what's going on with the series at the moment. Although this is a rumour.... it's a pretty strong one..

"Filing under "rumor" (07:12 AM EST): A post in the forum by an E3 attendee indicated that a Pioneer rep at E3 (the Electronics Entertainment Expo held just last week) gave notice that they've licensed Gatekeepers and intend to have it out in September. If true, it's again great to see Pioneer branching out into licensing more titles that aren't part of the family stable. An announcement similar to this was made in the previous year or two as well, so it's probably likely, but we're treating it as a rumor until we get an official confirm."

FLCL and Tenshi ni Narumon Updates

Information supplied by Mobius.

Synch Point tidbits: A few little things have cropped up over the past day or two regarding the upcoming releases of Synch Point's. Originally, the DVD for FLCL was planned for after the VHS, but it now appears that this series will arrive at the same time though no dates are set yet. They're still looking at 2 OVA's per disc as well as getting some extras. For Tenshi ni Narumon, it's still looking like that will be release to DVD after the tapes start rolling out.

Akira game coming to PS2

Information supplied by ^kEnJi^.

Since the release of Sorceror Orphen, another anime game is making its way to the PS2.

"Yes! More 3D motorcycle death hockey! AIA Readies Akira on PS2? Tetsuo! Kaneda! PlayStation 2! The makers of Illbleed are ready to explode some more heads. April 27, 2001 According to a report by ICV2.com, a PlayStation 2 videogame based on the classic Japanese animated film Akira is being developed by AIA, a new game company made up of veterans of the Dreamcast horror adventure Illbleed. Heading up the company is Yoshiaki Kanazawa, former chairman of Jaleco. The game is slated to arrive in late summer, a few weeks after Pioneer releases the remastered edition of the film. The game "is said to take full advantage of the three-dimensional potential of the Playstation 2 format," but no other details are available. AIA was not reachable for comment.
