Hand Maid May. As I do with super cute anime's,
I fell in love with it. It is set around the life of a uni student,
named Kazuya, who is attempting to create a fully AI controlled
robot, Ikaria. After a hard day of school, Kazuya's best friend
/ rival gives him a new 'program' to try. When Kazuya tries to
run it, he finds out it to be a virus! The virus runs itself,
and orders a Hand Maid by the name of .. May. A few seconds later,
a knock on his door reveals a delivery girl, and he recieves May,
the six inch high robot.
This is a super cute series right from the word
go. If you are the kind of person who enjoyed Love Hina, then
HMM is defiantly for you. If your tasted will only revolve around
Evangelion or Kenshin, then this isn't your bag.
The plot isn't exactly something that can be deeply
analyzed as other animes, simply because it wasn't meant to be.
Although I would hate to admit it, it has a typical plot. Geek
surounded by cute ladies. All works out well. But that was why
I loved it.
A lot of people weren't as taken to the little
May as I was, and most people didn't enjoy the hentai/ecchi comedy
that was used so often. The location of May's USB port is a little
over the top even for my liking, especially the way that Kazuya
had to find it.
But don't get me wrong. I've read a lot of reviews
by people who say that the fanservice / hentai jokes were extremly
over the top, but I completely disagree, although the show was
directed at the teenage male, of which I am.
The animation in this series is excellent, similar
to Love Hina. The characters are all well drawn, and for those
who watch in the middle of the series, there becomes quite a suprise.
An anime well worth seeing if that takes your pick.
