Review:

This review started out to be a rip out on why companies should not edit Japanese Animation so they can release it to a market, that they should not be able to. It still is, a bit anyway.

It was originally released in America/Western World by Media Blasters, who cut the show to pieces. Crucial plot elements where snipped away onto the editing floor. It wasn't like they NEEDED to so they could release it in the Western World, it was that they wanted to widen the market so that they could sell the movie too, a market that Kite was not meant for.

And now for some plot information. Enter Sawa, a young and very good looking female assasin. The story shows how she is trying to escape the clutches of her 'boss' who saved her when both her parents were killed. She was brought up to be a cold blooded killer. Sawa meets Oburi, another assasin, and they both agree to end their jobs in the business.

It is a typical thriller movie. Lots of blood, more so than Perfect Blue. Sawa's gun shoots normal bullets, which then explode in the victim's body. Groovy.

When Kite was released edited, the show was horrible. After I watched it first I felt as if I was missing something. After I found out I wasn't wearing any pants I still felt as if there was something missing from the show. It was after this that I found out the show had been horribly attacked. It made me cry that a show that good was slashed away just so they could increase profit margins on it.

Apart from that it is an excellent show. The animation reminds me of the better older animes. Even the opening sequence where Sawa jumps from the top of the building is incredibly smooth and beutiful. The soundtrack never really jumped out at me, however, and I think the movie would have been exceptionally good with a better created soundtrack.

Anyways, Thriller fan? You will enjoy Kite.
