Enter an idiot of a guy by the name of Keitaro,
a guy who seems to fail all exams for entering the infamous Tokyo
University and in need of cash, and make him the manager of an
all-girl's inn which is full of girls of different personalities
and you get an anime which will guarantee to result in the viewer
being reduced to hysterics.
Love Hina follows the life of Keitaro, a 20 yr old
male student who has failed 3 times to get into the very hard
and academic University of Tokyo. Why does he try so many times
to do something that seems impossible for him? The basic plot
is that Keitaro is trying to enter the University due to a promise
he made to his child-hood sweetheart to meet her at Tokyo University
in the future. The thing is that Keitaro forgets the name and
basic looks of the girl, so he's in a dead end. Keitaro is than
made to look after the Hinata Sou Inn, which is an all-girl's
inn belonging to his grandmother.
Poor Keitaro is just a person that the girls pick
on constantly. The reason being is that Keitaro is really clumsy
and is a pervert, so of course the girls pick on him! Keitaro
also has the biggest heart and is a very nice guy, and that's
what makes you really sympathise with Keitaro's character. He
doesn't mean half the things that he does to the girls, and when
he attempts to apologize, his actions make the situation even
worse! ^^;; Even though Keitaro tries to keep his promise to his
child-hood sweetheart, he finds himself falling for a girl by
the name of Narusegawa, at the inn. Hence, the story has it's
twists and turns, which will leave the audience guessing at what
will happen next.
The character designs in this anime are done very
well. Each character is clearly defined and unique, which adds
to the effect of this particular anime. In my honest opinion,
I think that Love Hina is a unique anime. It's funny, the episodes
are so different but the anime as a whole still retains it's original
plot. A good anime to go and watch, and quite a recent anime as
well.
