Review:

Fight fight fight, that's all this anime is about. Plot? Uh... fight fight fight. Ok, I'll get straight to the review.

Flame of Recca is based around the life of Hanabishi Recca, a ninja wanna-be. The basic story is that Hanabishi befriends a girl named Yanagi, who becomes his "hime" (princess). Recca basically protects her from accidents and stuff, and finds out that she has extraordinary healing powers. However, Recca isn't the only one who knows of her powers, Kurei and his father also know of it, and kidnap Yanagi to use for their experiments to search for a longer life.

A mysterious woman than appears, Kage Houshi, who seems to be against Recca because she turns his friends against him. However, as it turns out, Kage Houshi is actually on Recca's team, and helps him by telling him what elemental weapons they have and how to use them. The rest of Recca's gang comprises of Fuko, Domon and Mikagami and they fight together in order to save Yanagi.

Episodes 1-13 is about Recca and the gang trying to save Yanagi from Kurei, whereas the later episodes are basically about this huge fighting tournament where the winner gets the other sides' elemental weapons and advances onto the next round, the ultimate goal is reaching Kurei's gang and fighting him. In a suprising twist of fate, Recca finds out about his real family and who Kurei really is. The rest of the anime is all fighting.

Apparently, there's supposed to be a second season of Flame of Recca coming out, but don't quote me on that one. The end of the anime is very disappointing, leaving a lot of questions unanswered, much like the same as Evangelion, except there is no movie to shed any light.

If you like an anime all about action, then watch this one. However, if you're a person who likes to have an actual plot and storyline to an anime, steer clear from this one. The animation is ok, with the drawings looking really shocking at times. But hey, at least the music is good.
